A Dockside Elopement - Advice from a Charleston Wedding Officiant

Updated: Jan 29, 2022

Dear Brides and Grooms,

Congrats! You're engaged! What's next??

Before you start the planning process, take some time to celebrate with friends and family!

Then, start thinking about what's important to you for your wedding day. If you decide to elope to Charleston, do I have a great spot for you!

During my tenure as a wedding officiant in Charleston, SC, I have seen my fair share of spots in Charleston for an elopement. White Point Garden, Hampton Park, Magnolia Plantation, Washington Square Park... these are some of the most popular places I have performed wedding ceremonies.

Let's think outside the box for a second... As a wedding officiant, I love when couples mix it up with an elopement venue that I have never been to, or thought of before! Dan and Rita began planning their Charleston elopement with this unique venue...

Dan and Rita choose this beautiful spot in Charleston to tie the knot! These two met at the Bohicket Marina, and decided to elope at the same spot!

The marina makes for a stunning backdrop for an elopement ceremony in Charleston. The marina is studded with boats, making their way in and out of their slips. The marina has an expansive boardwalk, with restaurants and shops at the center. That means you can celebrate your elopement at one of the dockside restaurants!

Let me share a bit about this fun couple...Rita and Dan were serious troopers on their elopement day.

As you can probably guess, it was over 100 degrees during their elopement ceremony! You would never know it by this beautiful shots taken by the talented Olga Chagarov.

Now, what do YOU need to have a successful elopement ceremony in Charleston??

  1. Your partner - Check!

  2. A wedding officiant - That's where I come in, A Charleston Wedding Officiant for large and small wedding ceremonies and elopements.

  3. An elopement photographer - Take this opportunity to document your beautiful day!

  4. A stunning bouquet - Sometimes couples choose to omit this from their elopement. In my opinion, that's a mistake. A beautiful bouquet of flowers adds color to your elopement photos, and makes you feel like a bride!

  5. Marriage license - The legal part of your Charleston elopement. As your wedding officiant, I help you through this process. Stay tuned for a blog post about the marriage license process in Charleston county.
